Time to assemble Dragonfly

Well the stitching part is finished.
All four corner flaps are done and I found the beads for the ribbon.

I have stained the wood box and it is drying. Hopefully in a few days it will be ready to show you. I need to get a trim for the box top edge. The glass beads for the ribbon are a very pale lavender. I did not post pictures the other day as it was just a copy of a previous post of the corner piece.  I will be having a giveaway soon to celebrate my #100 blog friend and it will be posted at my other blog...so stay tuned for details. As always, I wish you a wonderful day and I am happy you took the time to visit with me.

The start of part 3

This is how it starts...making 4 of these squares---
and then it will look like this
I completed the beads to see how it was going to look but will wait on the next 3 until all the stitching is done.

These squares will eventually become triangles and stitched to the first piece.....I still do not have the box to mount this on yet...my original plan was to make a pillow. Sometimes you just have to "make" it your way.
Well, time for a cup of tea and the morning paper......then work today. I do hope you have a fun day. So glad you had the time to visit.

On to part 3 of Dragonfly

I can't believe that I finished part 2......
I also never use a wooden hoop and what I found out is that is soiled my linen! Hopefully it will come clean. I only need a small bit around the outside border but it may show. I am trying to spot clean it as I can not wash the entire piece. Next is to stitch the four "flaps" for the center..... I have a work day today---I know, once in a schedule, I work a Tuesday and this week I have 4 days. So that is the reason for an early post. Oh, did you stop by my other blog? Today is my niece's 18th birthday and what a beautiful young lady she is. I wish I was there in RI to celebrate. Have a nice day.

Dragonfly #2 and beads

I finished stitching the second dragonfly and decided to add the beads.
This really is as pretty as I hoped it would be. I hope to add the last 2 dragonflies tonight/tomorrow so I can begin the special center piece.

I made a change. The pattern calls for a sequent in each corner block but I did not like the way it looked---so I added a glass bugle bead and like it much better.
I was not liking the color for the crown but with the beads added it looks okay.
Today is my last work day until Tuesday. I am so glad you took the time to visit. i know going from one blog to another can be a nuisance, but I really appreciate your visits. Hope your weekend is great.

Dragonfly one~~~~

I just love this project.  Gee, I think I have said this on a few others. Well it makes sense when you think about it. That is why I choose them to do in the first place...although it can start out that way and then-----
anyway...here is what I did so far.....

I just love these colors. And the dragonfly is....well you look and see....
I usually wait to do beading when I finish all the stitching...but I just had to give him eyes~~~the better to see you all with. I made a change with the legs. The pattern stated to use 2 strands of cording, but it looked over powering so I used only one. It looks much nicer. One down and 3 more to stitch.
Happy to have you visit with me today. Enjoy your day~~~~~

Scottish stitch complete

I do not remember if I have done this stitch before. It is not complicated, but it did have me frowning a bit. Each section is suppose to mirror the other.
From here I move to the putting a dragonfly in each of the four sections. Then the last to do with this section are the beads. This seems to be moving quickly.
Well today is Thursday and that mean a work day. I would rather be home today....but when you only work 3 days it is not nice to complain. Have a very nice day....glad you stopped by today.

On with the border

I thought I would have this border completed this morning, but not. I wanted to get a few things done before the cable guy visits this morning with Mr H. And I will be out this afternoon, so....
I would like to finish this part today. I am not too crazy for the shade of thread in the crowns....
But as I am using the recommended threads/colors, I will leave them. I did not order the box for this project. I think I am going to try to get one locally first. Here I am jumping ahead---first I need to finish the stitching!
It was so nice to have you stop by. I hope your day is wonderful.

Dragonfly border

This project has such lovely colors...and the silk is wonderful to stitch with.
This is the border which I hope to complete today. Next is the Scottish stitch which is in each corner area. I love dragonflies. i hardly ever see one here in Arizona. Back East, they were always around our pond. But I also love hummingbirds...out here they are in my front and back yard quite often---back East once in a while. Win some loose some. We are having a lovely day and it means sitting outside to stitch.....hope you get some stitching done today and have a great day. Thanks you for stopping by.

Framed~~~~~~but where will she hang

Ah, Angel Grace has a frame.....
The frame is a brushed antique gold finish and the inside mat is the same taupe as in her gown. She is temporarily hanging in one spot looking for a better place. I just love the way she looks completed.
When I took this challenge I was concerned about how I would do. You see, I always have at least 2-3 projects in the works, but 15! I have not stressed over all the projects waiting---rather, I have enjoyed it.
I have the dragonfly (Day 14) out but I think I will work on Glad Tidings today......going to take the cup of coffee and stitch outside this morning. Thank you for stopping by and I hope your day is wonderful.

Come fly away with me and Angel Grace

I finished the stitching on Grace!
I am so pleased with her....and me. From tip of halo to bottom she is 5 and 3/4" and wing to wing 2 and 3/4". I did make a few changes----I stitched the Round eyelets and the double cross eyelets in DMC 3033 as I never did find my Pearl cotton and I changed the beads to petite size.
The beads at her neckline are just enough.....
Her wings look much better in person. . . .just enough sparkle for her to fly. Now to decide whether to frame or make into an ornament. This makes #11 finished for the challenge---of which 5 are to total completion.
I am still not ready to pick up La D Da again yet. I think it will be the dragonfly piece from day 14. It is the largest one left, so maybe I best get going on it.
I am off to work today. . . so I will wish you a wonderful day. Thank you for stopping by and leaving comments and thank you for the emails.

A wing and a halo

I finished the front stitching and the vine and roses...
The detail across the neckline and her halo and left wing. Just need to add the beads across the neckline and her right wing and she will be ready to fly!
This is one of my favorites.....she is so pretty.
Thank you for visiting with me and also for the wonderful comments and emails....have a great day.

Looking lovely

Well, even though this has been a busy week so far and frustrating, I did get in stitching on Grace....
I still have the center roses and vine to do and her wings and her halo.

This is the detail at the bottom of her. There will be some outlining to add. Thanks for the opinions on her shoulder roses....I think we agree to leave it as stitched.
My plans for the day are just to sit outside and stitch and have a Wild Hibiscus cocktail this afternoon. Wish you could join me.
Thank you so very much for the comments and opinions....and for taking the time to visit with me. Have a wonderful day...

Roses and roses

Here she is....

I worked on the center panel a little.
there will be beads added later. the roses are 1 over 1.
I had made a change to the roses on her shoulder. They were also 1 over 1, but I felt they were lacking, so I redid them 2 over 1.
What do your think...be honest I really want an opinion. I will redo to 1 over 1 if you think they are too much.

This is a before...sorry I did not do a close up. Redo or leave?
Well, I would like a cup of tea and the morning paper out on the lanai. thank you for stopping by today.....have a great day.

Hands~~~~

Grace has hands.....just had to get them done.
I also stitched a bit on her dress. There will be roses and a vine as well as beads down the center.
I have to outline her cuffs, but it does look nice at this point....

I love how the Round Eyelets give the cuffs texture.
If i don't see you here or at my other blog tomorrow, I wish you a lovely Mother's Day. Thank you for visiting today.

Lovely Grace

I really like this piece. I am not sure how it will be finished, but for now, I will just enjoy the stitching.
I really must stitch in her hands next....
I misplaced my #12 Pearl cotton #3033 and I thought I had Kreinik #4 braid 3221.......so I will just continue to work around these until I get them. Just having one of those weeks.
I am off to work today and tomorrow. Thank you for visiting with me today...have a good day.

Another motif...

Well, this seems to be moving toward a finish....
The left edge is complete and you can see where I need to stitch next. The pattern is really nice to stitch.

Usually I am not fond of lots of repetition, but this is not bad to do. If you visited my other blog, you know that we have had a family death, with 2 others being close "family" people through long time friendships. Today is a day to recall past memories.
Thank you for stopping by....have a good day.

Moving right along~~~

I did a little stitching while my brother was here and then some more yesterday....

I really need to steam press to get the hoop marks out...
I hardly ever use a hoop and I do remove it if I am putting the piece down for more than a few minutes...but it is getting there....I am so happy that I have the right color floss and do not have to blend threads. Every time I look at this I will think of my sweet friend Fern....When I go back to work on Friday, I will look fro a print for the lining.
The day is so lovely I will take the Sunday newspaper, my cup of tea and sit outside. My friend Ziz may stop over later today to sample the Wild Hibiscus drink. I posted about it yesterday over at my other blog. Thank you for visiting with me today...
